? 殷洪喬作豫章郡，臨去，都下人因附百許函書。既至石頭，悉擲水中，因祝曰：“沉者自沉，浮者自浮，殷洪喬不能作致書郵?！?(劉義慶《世說新語·任誕》) When Yin Xian was appointed grand warden of Yuzhang Comman dery,on the eve of his departure to take up his post the people of the capital (Jiankang) took the occasion to entrust him with a hundred or more letters. After he reached Shitou he threw them all into the water.As he did so he muttered the following incantation:“Let those that sink sink,|And those that float float;But Yin Xian never can|Become a mailman.” |
