周而不比zhōu ér bù bǐbe all-embracing and impartial; be catholic and no partisan; maintain close relationship with people without selfish ends
? 顧謂玄伯、元夏曰： “君子～，群而不黨?！?(劉義慶《世說新語·排調(diào)》) He said to Chen Tai and Wu Kai，“A gentleman is ‘a(chǎn)ll-embracing and impartial’； he‘keeps company with all men,and joins no fac tions.’”/君子～，小人比而不周。(《論語·為政》) The superior man is catholic and no partisan. The mean man is a partisan and not catholic. |
