Who do you think he is? 你認為他是誰？ (know) twho's 'who, (know) who people are, what they do, etc. (知道) 誰是誰; (知道) 誰是有影響力的人物等。 2 (Whom is used in formal and literary style, but is usually replaced by who in ordinary colloq style): (whom用于正式的及文學的文體中，一般通俗文體中?？捎?who 代替)： To whom did you give it? 你把它交給誰了？ Who did you give it to? 你把它交給誰了？ Who (m) did you see? 你看到誰了？ Who(ni) do you think I met in the post-office this morning? 你猜今天早晨我在郵局遇到誰了？ I don't know to whom I ought to address the request. 我不曉得該向誰作此請求。 I don't know who / ought to address the request to. 我不曉得該向誰作此請求。 Who else did you see? 你還看見誰了？ rel pron 1 (in defining, or restrictive, clauses; 中 that, which sometimes replaces who): (用于限定子句中; 參看有時可代替 who 的 that1) : This is the man who/These are the men who wanted to see you. 這 (這些) 就是要見你的那個人 (那群人) 。 (After there + to be the rel pron 'who' may be omitted: 在 there + to be 之后，關系代名詞 who 可省略： There's somebody (who) wants you on the telephone. 有人來電話找你。 There was a man (who) called to see you while you were out. 你出去的時候，有一個人來看你。) 2 (Whom is often replaced by that except after a prep; the prep may be placed at the end and that used for whom) : (whom 常被 that 代替，但緊接在介詞之后時，不可改用 that; 如將介詞移至句末，則可用 that 代替 whom)： That is the man (whom) I met in London last year. 那就是我去年在應敦碰見的那個人。 That is the man about whom we were speaking. 那就是我們剛才在談論的那個人。 That's the man (that) we were speaking about. 那就是我們剛才在談論的那個人。 I know the man (whom) you mean. 我知道你(的意思) 指的是誰。 3 (in non defining clauses, not replaceable by that; clause st off by the use of commas or placed in paren-heses): (在非限定子句中, 不可用 that 代替; 子句用逗號分開或置于括號中)： My wife, who has been abroad recently, hopes ： o see you soon. 內(nèi)子剛從海外歸來, 她希望很快見到你。 My brother, whom you met the other day, has recently written a book on Indian art. 前幾天你曾遇見家兄(舍弟)，他最近寫了一本: 關于印度藝術的書。 O“r new neighbours, to whom I was introduced yesterday, have come here from Yorkshire. 我們的新鄰居是從約克郡搬來的, 昨天我被介紹與他們相識。 4 (independent relative) (獨立關確詞) Whom (= Those whom) the gods love die young, Those who are specially favoured by Providence die young. 神所蕃愛者信夭折(好人不長壽)。 |
