Pyramus and Thisby (Thisbe):Pyramus,a youth ofBabylon,became enamoured of Thisbe. The lovers,whom their parents forbade to marry,agreed to meetat the tomb of Ninus,outside the walls of Babylon.Thisbe came first to the appointed place,but beingfrightened by a lioness fled into a cave,dropping aveil,which the lioness covered with the blood of a cow. Pyramus,arriving,found the bloody veil,and,concluding that Thisbe had been devoured,stabbedhimself.
