△Rom. 2.2.152:“To cease thy strife,and leave me to my grief.”i.e.To stop your effort,etc. 停止你的追求，讓我獨(dú)自去傷心吧。(按：strife，一作suit，“追求”。)
2. struggle,endeavour斗爭，努力。
△Tw.1.4.41:“Yeta barful strife!”i.e.a struggle full of difficulties,anendeavour full of impediments. 但是，好一番困難重重的斗爭。(又譯：好一番障礙重重的努力。)
3. discord,contest,contention,brawl不和，競爭，爭論，爭吵。
△1H.VI.5.5.62:“For what is wedlock forced,but a hell,/ An age of discord and continual strife?”因為，強(qiáng)迫婚姻是一座地獄，除了一輩子的不和、不斷的爭吵，還有什么？
4. brawl,uproar,disturbance爭吵，喧囂，騷動。
△Mid.5.1.230(225): “For,if I should,as lion,come instrife / Into this place，’twere pity on my life.”因為，如果我真是獅子一般，闖到這兒來咆哮，那么我就要大為倒霉。
5. contrariety,opposition,contradiction,variance 對立，反對，抵觸，分歧。
