tell-talen. 1.one who tells about another’s private affairs; any-thing revealing or betraying a person’s thoughts,con-ducts,etc. 搬弄是非者;暴露人思想言行的閑話,飛短流長之言。 △2H. IV. 4. 1. 201 (199):“And therefore will he wipehis tables clean / And keep no tell-tale to his memo-ry”,所以他要把他的石板擦得干干凈凈,不在他的記憶中留下任何飛短流長之言。 2.(used as a.) telling the private concerns or mis-deeds of others,blabbing,tattling說別人閑話或壞話的,信口雌黃的,喋喋不休的。 △R.
