靡不有初，鮮克有終mǐ bù yǒu chū , xiǎn kè yǒu zhōngall are good at first but few prove themselves to be so at the last [an admonition for people to start well and end well]/蕩蕩上帝，下民之辟。疾威上帝，其命多辟。天生烝民，其命匪諶。～。(《詩經(jīng)·大雅·蕩》) How vast is God，丨The ruler of men below! 丨How arrayed in terrors is God，丨With many things irregular in His ordinations! 丨Heaven gave birth to the multitudes of the people，丨But the nature it confers is not to be depended on. 丨All are good at first，丨But few prove themselves to be so at the last. |
