1. compensation,atonement補(bǔ)償，償還。
△Wiv.3.3.208(197): “Let him be sent for to-morrow,eighto'clock,to have amends.”讓他明天八點鐘來，再給他點兒補(bǔ)償。
△3H.VI.4.7. 2: “Yet thus far fortune makethus amends.”到目前為止，命運(yùn)還是給了我們補(bǔ)償。
