Indies:1.The East Indies and the West Indies,both regardedas sources of fabulous wealth,(fig.) fabulous wealth東、西印度（過(guò)去被歐洲人認(rèn)為是巨大財(cái)富之源）,（比喻）巨大財(cái)富。
△H.VIII.4.1.45: “Our king has all the Indies inhis arms,/ And more and richer,when he strains that lady.”我們的國(guó)王擁抱這一位小姐的時(shí)候，簡(jiǎn)直等于把東、西印度的財(cái)富都抱在他的懷里了，而且比東、西印度的財(cái)富還要更豐富、更寶貴呢。
