1. story故事。
tales devised: forged or false stories捏造的故事，不真實(shí)的故事。
△1H. IV. 3. 2. 23: “As in reproof of manytales devised，”就像反駁那許多捏造的故事。
2. talk談話。
sweet tale: loving words甜言蜜語。
△1H. IV. 2. 4. 136(121):“that melted at the sweet tale of the sun’s?”那牛油聽了太陽的甜言蜜語就融化了。
3. story,talk,anything told故事，話題，說頭。
△ As. 27. 28:“And thereby hangs a tale.” i. e. there is some-thing to say about that; something more might be saidon the subject,i. e. as to the brevity of life.在這上面大有感慨可發(fā)（指人生短暫）。
4. anything that is said or spoken,long speech. talk所說的話，所講的事，長篇講話，談話。

5. narrative,account敘述，描述。
△1H.VI.5.5.10:“this superficial tale”，i.e. this shallow narrative; thisaccount of her appearance. 這種膚淺的敘述；對她外貌的這種描述。
6. gossip流言飛語。
△H.VIII.5.3.110 (5.2.145): “Inseeking tales and informations / Against this man，”你們搜集那些不利于這個(gè)人的流言飛語和控訴。
7. lie謊言。
△Mid.3.2.133: “and both as light astales.”二者都是虛飄如謊言一般。
△Ado.4.2.33 (30):“they are both in a tale.”i.e.they are in collusion:they are agreed on the same lie. 他們串通好了，招供一致。8. (quibbling on) tail = penis （同音雙關(guān)）尾巴(=男生殖器)。
△Rom.2.4.104 (97): “Thou wouldst else have made thy tale large.”要不然，你的尾巴還要更長呢。 tale[teil]n.故事
