敢,膽敢(be brave or bold enough to):(I/we/you/he/she/they)~(d) not tell the truth(我/我們/你(們)/他/她/他們)(過去)不敢說實話;D~you ask him again? 你敢再問他嗎? D~n't she tell her parents about it? 難道她不敢告訴父母這件事? How~he behave like that? 他怎么敢那樣干? Nobody~d say a word.誰也不敢說一句話。I don't know if he~try. 我不知道他是否敢于試一試。If you~speak to me like that again, you will be sorry. 如果你再敢那樣跟我說話,你要后悔的。
I dare say可能,或許:I~say your sympathy's with him. 也許你是同情他。It's worth a few pounds, I~say, but no more. 這可能值幾英鎊,但絕不會更多。
【用法】dare用作情態(tài)動詞時,多用于否定和疑問句、以及帶有否定詞hardly、never、nobody等的句子和if、whether引導(dǎo)的間接問句等;dare后接無to不定式,其過去式dared少見,durst是古舊形式,僅見于口語中;無過去分詞、現(xiàn)在分詞和不定式形式;一般現(xiàn)在時單數(shù)第三人稱亦無變化。dare say只用于現(xiàn)在時第一人稱,兩字分開寫;如果重音落在say上,也可寫為一個詞:I dare say you're right.(也許你是對的。)
