1. consuming,consumptive 令人憔悴的，消耗性的。
△As.3.2.344 (323): “l(fā)ean and wasteful learning.” i.e.study which makes a man thin and causes him to waste away. 那令人消瘦、憔悴的學問研究。
2. destructive,devastating. ruinous 破壞性的，破壞性極大的，毀火性的。
△H.V.1.2.282: “and his soul / Shallstand sore charged for the wasteful vengeance / Thatshall fly with them；”i.e.with the cannon-balls.而隨著炮彈飛來的毀滅性的報復將要把他的心靈壓得沉甸甸的。
