名不正，則言不順míng bù zhèng , zé yán bù shùnif the name is not correct,the words will not ring true;if titles are incorrect,orders will not be carried out
? 孔子曰： “～”，這原是應該極注意的。(《魯迅選集》上—50) Confucius said，“If the name is not correct,the words will not ring true”； and this axiom should be most scrupulously observed.
? 孔子曰： “野哉由也！ 夫～，言不順則事不成，……” (《史記·孔子世家》1934)Confucius retorted，“What a savage you are! If titles are incorrect,orders will not be carried out;and if orders are not carried out,then nothing can be achieved…” |
