1. quality of being a man as opposed to a woman,manly characteristics 男子品質(zhì)，男子特性。

2. manly characteristics or qualities,as honour,hon-esty,courage,fortitude,etc.:manliness 男子漢特征或品質(zhì)(榮譽、誠實、勇氣、剛毅等)；男子氣概。
△H.V.3.2.53(48): “which makes much against my manhood，” i.e.which goes much against my honesty and courage as aman. 這可太不符合我的男子漢氣概。
△ 2H.VI.5.2.75:“Now is it manhood,wisdom,and defence / To givethe enemy way.”現(xiàn)在對敵人退讓一步，正是膽略、明智和防衛(wèi)。
