深厲淺揭shēn lì qiǎn qìif deep,I will go through with my clothes on,if shallow I will do so,holding them up—act according to the circumstances;/匏有苦葉，濟(jì)有深涉； 深則厲，淺則揭。(《詩(shī)經(jīng)·邶風(fēng)·匏有苦葉》) The gourd has (still) its bitter leaves,|And the crossing at the ford is deep.|If deep,I will go through with my clothes on; |If shallow,I will do so,holding them up. 深厲淺揭shēn lì qiǎn jiē厲：涉水；揭：提起衣服。指遇到深水的地方就穿著衣服游過(guò)去，遇到淺水的地方就撩起衣服趟過(guò)去。比喻做事要因時(shí)、因地制宜。act according to circumstances, do what is suitable for the occasion |
