1. truth,integrity,uprightness 真實(shí)，誠實(shí)，正直。
△H.VIII.1.1.39: “As I belong to worship andaffect / In honour honesty，” i. e. As I belong to thenobility and love truth in accordance with my sense ofhonour. 我有貴族的身份，榮譽(yù)感使我熱愛誠實(shí)。
△H.VIII.5.3.111 (5.2.146): “whose honesty the devil / And his disciples only envy at，”他的誠實(shí)，只有魔鬼和他的門徒才會嫉恨。
2. honourableness,honourable character高尚，高尚品格。
△Lr.2.2.77 (72):“That such a slave as thisshould wear a sword,/ Who wears no honesty.” 因?yàn)檫@樣一個(gè)奴才，毫無高貴品格，居然身上也佩著劍。
3. honour榮譽(yù)。
△Oth.5.2.243 (245):“But whyshould honour outlive honesty?”i.e.why should rep-utation outlive honour?可是榮譽(yù)既不存在，還關(guān)心名譽(yù)做什么？
△1H.IV.1.2.154 (138):“There’s neither hones-ty,manhood,nor good fellowship in thee，”你這個(gè)人沒有信譽(yù)，沒有男子氣概，也沒有哥們兒義氣。
4. decency,propriety,respectability,decorum正派，規(guī)矩，體面，體統(tǒng)。

5. chastity 貞潔。
