1. anticipate,prevent 搶先，阻止。
△Ham.3.3. 48:“And what’s in prayer but this twofold force,/ To beforestalled ere we come to fall,/Or pardoned beingdown?”i.e.to be prevented from falling into tempta-tion,or forgiven if we have fallen (into temptation)禱告不過有這兩重作用，或者預(yù)先防止我們墮落，或者失足后得到赦宥，此外還有什么意義？
△Ham.5.2.230 (217): “I willforestall their repair hither，”我可以先去阻止他們別來(lái)。
